September 12, 2011Aspect Triathletes Compete in Kitsap County
Wrapping up the summer with a test of swimming, biking, and running endurance, five Aspect employees competed in the Tri Turtle Tri (TTT) Sprint Plus distance triathlon near Silverdale. The competitors performed a half-mile swim in Wildcat Lake, followed by a 15.6-mile bike ride, and ending with a 3.4-mile run to the finish.
Staff and family raced in both relay and individual formats. Mirka Ramsey, Freyja Jons, and Lindsey Holmson (Andy Holmson’s wife) competed in the relay segment for the second year in a row. Erick Miller delivered a strong performance in his first Tri Turtle event. After taking a year off, Peter Bannister finished his second TTT while his wife Ruth did great in her first TTT. Despite a recent foot injury, Mike Scrafford raced across the finish line for the third consecutive year. Deb Flynn (Tim Flynn’s wife), a dedicated triathlete, breezed through her third TTT – her third triathlon this year (so far).
A yearly favorite of Aspect’s Bainbridge Island staff, the Tri Turtle Tri combines good competition with strong support for local community causes. A portion of proceeds benefit Kitsap County’s Prevention of Childhood Obesity campaign and all pledge money from the event goes to help the County’s Parks and Recreation program.
