Scott Kindred Discusses GIS Techniques to Evaluate Basin-Wide Infiltration
Feasibility at AWRA-WA
Scott Kindred presented the use of GIS techniques to
evaluate infiltration feasibility on a basin-wide scale at the America Water
Resources Association Washington State chapter Annual
Conference on October 4 in Seattle.
Scott’s presentation focused on development of
a screening-level approach that uses GIS to consider geology, depth to groundwater,
surface slope, and proximity to steep slopes across a large area. The approach
integrates these analytical inputs into maps that help locate preferred locations
for stormwater infiltration and avoid areas that may cause adverse impacts.
To illustrate the tool’s real-world utility, Scott
discussed how this approach was used to support the Silverdale LID Retrofit
Plan in Kitsap County.
